We name our tires after the passes in the Cascade Mountains that inspire them: Barlow Pass is near the ghost town of Monte Cristo in the northern Cascades. Our Barlow Pass is the perfect tire for rides that combine equal portions of pavement and gravel: light enough so your bike retains the nimble feel of a road bike, yet 38 mm wide to give you amazing traction on pavement and off. The supple casing of Rene Herse all-road tires rolls smoothly over surface irregularities. The tread pattern interlocks with the road surface for superior cornering grip, wet or dry. The tread has enough thickness in the center to last thousands of miles, but it’s thin and supple on the shoulders where it doesn’t wear. At 48 mm wide, the Oracle Ridge hits the sweet spot between narrow gravel tire (38 mm) and mountain bike volume (55 mm) – ideal for the latest generation of gravel and all-road bikes. We’ve developed the Oracle Ridge together with bikepacking legend Lael Wilcox, and we’ve named it after one of Lael’s favorite routes: Oracle Ridge is a beautiful gravel climb outside Tucson, AZ, which connects to the backside of Mount Lemmon for an ultra-fast descent on pavement. On the gravel climb, this tire grips tenaciously thanks to its tall and widely spaced knobs. On the descent, it corners like a slick thanks to its large and strategically placed knobs that don’t squirm and always put the same amount of rubber on the road. The ExtraTerrestrial tire was meant to serve as a heavy-duty off road touring tire that shines on hard pack surfaces. It uses a nylon breaker in the sidewalls for cut protection, a molded pattern for anti-cut propagation, and a Kevlar cap under the tread to protect against flats.
